I spent the first 25 years of my career in business-to-business sales. And in one of the toughest sectors: credit insurance. First at Euler Trade Indemnity, where I was eventually responsible for a sales team of 140 people across the UK, and £40 million of direct sales.
Then at the innovative insurance company I launched myself – raising the finance, getting the underwriting support, building a sales team, commissioning the IT. Selling thousands of policies before selling my stake in the business.
Finally, as Head of Private Client Sales at Smart Currency, I got some valuable B2C experience in another highly competitive sector.
Since 2011 I have been working independently with my own sales consultancy, and loving it. I can choose who I work with: ambitious start-ups and SMEs whose management understand the impact I can make on their business.
I’ve learnt a lot along the way. How to find and acquire customers, how to recruit, develop and motivate a sales team, how to make the best use of my time and other people’s.
